A return visit just for the gardens, and we could've been told which paths were/weren't open because there was no signage, no warning. It's understandable that parts of the garden are roped off after wet weather, but advice would've been appreciated. Basically only the perimeter of the garden paths were available . Still a lovely place to visit, and made better by watching a firing pair of dabchicks.

This was my second visit. I can't remember when I first visited but I remembered not the house but the fantastic art collection. Different because it is one man's taste and a jumbled collection, not a curated exhibition. I'm not into ceramics but if you are these are worth seeing too. So you need to visit once for the house and garden, once for the ceramics and other objects and several times for the fine art. The staff are great and so's the cafe. The lanes you have to drive down to get there are narrow and crumbling at the edges but that's the government's fault.

We had a fantastic day exploring Upton House & Gardens with our family. The staff and volunteers were incredibly friendly and approachable, always happy to share insights about the house and its history. One of the highlights was the beautiful atmosphere created by the lady playing the piano inside the house—it added a special touch and made the experience even more enjoyable. The art collection is truly impressive, with stunning pieces displayed throughout the house. The gardens were lovely to walk through, and the whole visit felt both relaxing and enriching. A perfect day out, and we’ll definitely be returning!

I do love National Trust properties and this one is no exception. Beautiful location, beautiful house and art work with a brilliant cafe on site.what more could you ask for on a day out.

Doesn't allow dogs, unfortunately the walk with a view wasn't what we expected. Not allowed in the grounds or cafe with dogs. So the whole visit was a waste of time. According to the National Trust book this place was supposed to be dog friendly. Is this what I buy for my membership?

Amazing art work. Sadly gardens not open due to windy weather

Sadly, this was the first National Trust place I ever had to leave early. The volunteers in the house are watching you like guard dogs and it was impossible simply to look around and enjoy the pictures and house without being accosted by them constantly. They also insisted that I needed to carry my small little backpack on the front or in my hands. Apparently, front-loaded imbalance that I'm not used to or uncontrolled swinging on the side causes less damage than when it sits snug on my back as it's supposed to. Even when I put it down on the floor in a room to look at the pictures in THAT room just so I wouldn't have to lug it from picture to picture, I was told off. Really spoiled the experience - I wish NT volunteers would just be less self-important and less intrusive so I can actually enjoy the experience!

A really good place with children, but lots for adults too? Amazing house and gardens.

Giving it 5 stars for the large collection of paintings and fine porcelain collection. There is an art gallery on the lower floor too. The house interior is nothing special. House volunteer guides were friendly and informative. Outside is an extensive lawn and disused swimming pool. Beyond that are terraced gardens which would look great in Spring/summer. Paths down lead to a 'mirror pool'. It reflects the trees on its surface just like any still body of water would.

A pleasant morning at Upton House. Beautiful galleries with a wonderful art and porcelain collection. Not massive grounds but interesting and well maintained.

Interesting art collection by the Old Masters like Caneleto. Garden very plain and mostly closed. Cafe offers decent food and guides are very knowledgeable on the house and artworks.

National Trust properties are always immaculate and a great day out, especially with the kids. One of the volunteers in the house was rather rude to us which was a bit disappointing but their colleagues were all excellent which helped offset it.

The trouble is that they are allowing vegans to rule the menus. Despite them saying that they support farmers (see poster attached) the are not doing this as the food in their restaurants is 70% vegan.

Why do NT only have guided tours of houses weekdays? We travelled 40+ miles, had a very early lunch nearby and arrived at Upton House to be told that all tickets for the house had gone. We had a walk around the gardens which were less than spectacular and left for the drive home within an hour. If they want you to join a guided tour, have slots available on the website!!

Wheelchair users can access the ground floor of Upton House via a ramped access at the side, which makes a huge difference, and is worth a visit even on bad weather days, with loads to see and a beautiful cafe

Had a tour of the house with very knowledgeable guides which was very enjoyable. Lunch in the café was very good. We will definitely put it on our list of places to visit on a regular basis. All staff were very friendly and helpful.
